Removal (4.3L)

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove air cleaner assembly. Disconnect harness connectors from ignition coil. Slightly twist ignition coil wire at ignition coil. See Fig 1. Remove ignition coil wire at ignition coil by pulling on the wire boot.
  2. Remove accelerator control cable bracket from intake manifold. See Figure. Remove ignition coil mounting studs. See Fig 2.
  3. Remove ignition coil assembly. Drill and punch out the 2 rivets holding the ignition coil to the bracket. Remove ignition coil from bracket.
