Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Sonoma and 2002 Chevrolet S10 Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Important:  When you install new rocker arms, lubricate the pivot bearing valve tips, and push rod sockets of the rocker arms with engine assembly prelube GM P/N 1052367.

  1. Install the pushrods.

    Ensure that the pushrods seat in the lifters.

  2. Install the rocker arms.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .

    Important:  Do not over tighten the rocker arm bolts.

  3. Ensure that the locating tab on the rocker pivot is properly aligned with the notch in the cylinder head.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the rocker arm bolts to 25 N.m (19 lb ft).

  4. Install the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement .
