Removal Procedure

NOTE: Broken engine mountings can cause misalignment of certain drive-train components. Misalignment of drive-train components causes eventual destruction of the drive-train components.

If one engine mount breaks, the rest of the engine mounts will have increased stress put on them. This could cause the rest of the engine mounts to break.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE .
  2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to LIFTING AND JACKING THE VEHICLE .
  3. Remove the left side transmission support brace.
  4. Remove the starter. Refer to STARTER MOTOR .

  5. Remove the bolt holding the battery positive cable to the engine.
  6. Remove the battery positive cable from the engine mount.
  7. Lower the vehicle.

  8. Remove the bolt and the engine mount shield.

  9. Install a suitable engine lifting device to the eyelet on the accessory mounting bracket.
  10. Raise the engine only enough to remove the weight from the engine mount.
  11. Remove the engine mount through-bolt.

  12. Remove the bolts holding the engine mount to the engine and the starter support.
  13. Remove the engine mount.
