Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Vibe. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the intake manifold and new gasket.

    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  2. Install the intake manifold bolts and nuts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the upper intake manifold nuts and bolts to 34 N.m (25 Ib. ft).

    Tighten the lower intake manifold bolt to 46 N.m (34 Ib. ft).

  3. Install the alternator bracket and 2 bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the alternator bracket bolts to 29 N.m (21 Ib. ft).

  4. Install the intake manifold bracket with 2 bolts and 1 nut.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the intake manifold bracket bolts and nut to 24 N.m (18 Ib. ft).

  5. Install the oil dipstick guide tube and bolt.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the oil dipstick guide tube bolt to 24 N.m (18 Ib. ft).

  6. Install 1 bolt to the engine wire harness bracket.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the engine wire harness bracket bolts to 10 N.m (7 Ib. ft).

  7. Clip the engine wire harness to the top of the generator.
  8. Connect the oil pressure switch and 2 ground connectors.
  9. Connect the rocker arm (CMP) control solenoid valve connector.
  10. Connect the camshaft position (CMP) actuator solenoid valve connector.
  11. Connect the camshaft position sensor connector.
  12. Connect the ECT sensor connector.
  13. Install the 1 bolt and 1 nut to the accelerator cable bracket.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the accelerator cable bracket bolts to 13 N.m (10 Ib. ft).

  14. Connect the PCV hose.
  15. Connect the brake booster vacuum hose.
  16. Connect the EVAP hose for the ORVR.
  17. Install the intake manifold insulator.
  18. Install the engine cover.
  19. Install the right engine splash shield. Refer to SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT - ENGINE - RIGHT .
  20. Install the left engine splash shield. Refer to SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT - ENGINE - LEFT .
  21. Refill the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEM .
  22. Connect the negative battery cable.
