Removal Procedure

CAUTION: Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT CAUTION .
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the transaxle assembly. Refer to the following:
  3. If equipped with a manual transmission, remove the clutch and pressure plate. Refer to CLUTCH ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT .
  4. Remove the 8 flywheel retaining bolts.

  5. Remove the flywheel from the crankshaft.
  6. Clean any grease or dirt from the crankshaft flange outer surface using a suitable solvent.
