Installation Procedure

Apply multi-purpose grease to the new crankshaft rear oil seal lip.
Important: Tap the oil seal in until its surface is flush with the crankshaft rear oil seal retainer edge.
Using a hammer, lightly tap the crankshaft rear oil seal into place.

Install the flywheel. Refer to Engine Flywheel Replacement .

If equipped with a manual transmission, install the clutch and pressure plate. Refer to CLUTCH ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT .
Install the transaxle assembly. Refer to the following:
- REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - A/T (AWD) for all wheel drive automatic transaxle
- REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - A/T (FWD) for 4-speed automatic transaxle
- MANUAL TRANSMISSION - MK5 for 5-speed manual transaxle
- MANUAL TRANSMISSION - MTN for 6-speed manual transaxle
Connect the negative battery cable.
Tighten

Tighten the battery cable bolt to 15 N.m (11 Ib. ft).
