Valve Stem Oil Seal & Valve Spring: Installation

  1. Lubricate valve stem and outside diameter of the valve guide seal with clean engine oil.
  2. Lubricate rotators with clean engine oil.
  3. Install valve stem oil seal over the valve tip and onto the valve guide using Valve Stem Seal Installer (J-43105). Tap valve stem seal onto valve guide until the valve stem seal installer fully seats the seal.
  4. Install valve spring cap and spring into valve component housing. See Fig 2.
  5. Using valve spring compressor, compress valve spring.
  6. Apply a small amount of clean grease to hold the valve stem keys in place. Carefully release the valve spring compressor. Ensure valve stem keys do not move. Remove valve spring compressor from the valve assembly. Release compressed air from cylinder being worked on. See Fig 1.
  7. Install spark plug.
  8. Install valve rocker arms and push rods. See VALVE ROCKER ARM & PUSH ROD .
