Exhaust Manifold Pipe: Installation

  1. Install NEW exhaust manifold pipe seal to the manifold pipe.
  2. Install exhaust manifold pipe.
  3. Apply lubricant to exhaust pipe hanger bracket to aid in installation.
  4. Slide exhaust manifold pipe hanger into exhaust pipe hanger bracket.
  5. Install and tighten exhaust manifold pipe nuts. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  6. If exhaust manifold pipe was replaced, apply Anti-Seize Compound GM (PN 12377953) to threads of old oxygen sensor. Install oxygen sensor. Tighten oxygen sensor to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  7. If exhaust manifold pipe was not replaced, connect oxygen sensor electrical connector. Connect CPA retainer. Install clip around engine harness and oxygen sensor pigtail.
  8. Install muffler. See MUFFLER REPLACEMENT .
  9. Install transmission support crossmember.
  10. Install transmission support crossmember bolts. Tighten transmission support crossmember bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  11. Lower transmission onto transmission support.
  12. Install transmission mount to transmission support nuts. Tighten transmission mount nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  13. Remove transmission jack.
  14. Install oil pan skid plate and bolts, if necessary. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  15. Lower vehicle.
