Crankshaft And Bearing: Removal

  1. Remove crankshaft position sensor bolt.
  2. Apply penetrating oil to the crankshaft position sensor-to-engine block mating surface. Allow penetrating oil to soak for several minutes, to help loosen the O-ring from engine block
  3. Twist sensor to break the O-ring seals loose. When removing sensor, pull sensor straight out of engine block at the same angle sensor was installed.
  4. Inspect both crankshaft position sensor O-rings for cuts, cracks, tears or damage. Replace the O-rings as needed.
  5. Remove crankshaft bearing cap bolts and studs, crankshaft bearing caps, crankshaft lower bearings from bearing caps, crankshaft, and upper bearings from engine block. See Figure.
