Catalytic Converter: Installation

  1. Apply Anti-Seize Compound GM (PN 12377953) to threads of the old oxygen sensors. Install oxygen sensors. Tighten oxygen sensors to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. Install a NEW exhaust seal to the exhaust manifold.
  3. Install catalytic converter. Slide catalytic converter hanger into exhaust pipe hanger bracket.
  4. Install left exhaust manifold pipe nuts. Tighten exhaust manifold pipe nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Connect oxygen sensor electrical connectors.
  6. Connect CPA retainers.
  7. Install muffler. See MUFFLER REPLACEMENT .
  8. Install oil pan skid plate and bolts, if necessary. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  9. Install engine shield and bolts, if necessary. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  10. Lower vehicle.
