Camshaft Bearing: Removal

- Remove rear camshaft plug, if not previously removed. Insert a long bar through the front of engine and drive the plug out of rear bore.
- Prior to bearing removal, inspect the camshaft bearings for loose fit in engine block bearing bores.
- Select the Expanding Driver (4-8) and Washer (2 or 3) from the Camshaft Bearing Service Set (J-33049) and assemble.
- Insert camshaft bearing service set through the front of the engine block and into the bearing.
- Tighten the expander assembly nut until snug.
- Push the guide cone into the front camshaft bearing to align the camshaft bearing service set.
- Drive inner bearings from their block bores.
- Assemble the camshaft bearing service set handle, expanding driver, and washer.
- Insert camshaft bearing service set into the outer camshaft bearings.
- Drive the outer bearings from the bore.
