Camshaft Bearing Cleaning & Inspection

- Clean camshaft in solvent.
- Dry camshaft with compressed air.
- Inspect camshaft retainer plate for damage.
- Inspect camshaft for camshaft bearing journals that are worn, scored, and/or damaged.
- Measure camshaft journals with a micrometer. See CAMSHAFT table.
- Measure for excessive camshaft runout using a Magnetic Based Dial Indicator. Mount camshaft in a suitable fixture. Use the Magnetic Based Dial Indicator, in order to measure for a bent camshaft. See CAMSHAFT table.
- Replace camshaft if runout exceeds specifications.
- Inspect camshaft bearings, 1-5, for serviceability.
- Replace camshaft bearings, if necessary..
