Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the primary camshaft drive chain tensioner shoe. Refer to Primary Camshaft Drive Chain Tensioner Shoe Replacement .
  2. Remove the camshaft position sensor. Refer to CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR in Engine Controls -3.5L.

    Important:  Do not allow the primary camshaft drive chain to fall into the crankcase.

  3. Remove the primary camshaft drive chain from the following:
    • The crankshaft sprocket.
    • The right intake sprocket.
    • The left intake sprocket.
  4. Remove the primary camshaft drive chain from the front cover area.
