Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2002 GMC Envoy XL, 2002 GMC Envoy, and 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the left frame engine mount bracket, if removed.

  3. Install the left frame engine mount bracket bolts, if removed.
    NOTE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the mount bracket bolts to 110 N.m (81 lb ft).

  4. Install the left engine mount bracket and secure the bracket with the bolts (1).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the engine mount bracket bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  6. Install the left engine mount onto the bracket.

  8. Lower the engine onto the engine mounts.
  9. Install the right and the left upper engine mount nuts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the upper engine mount nuts to 70 N.m (52 lb ft).

  11. Raise the vehicle and remove the jack from under the vehicle.
  12. Install the engine protection shield and secure the shield with the bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the engine protection shield bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  14. Install the right and the left lower engine mount nuts.

    Tighten 

    Torque the lower engine mount nuts to 70 N.m (52 lb ft).

  16. Lower the vehicle.
  17. Install the left shock module. Refer to Shock Module Replacement in Front Suspension.
  18. Install the MAP sensor (2).

  20. Install the MAP sensor retainer (1) and the electrical connector.
  21. Connect the cooling fan hub nut to the water pump shaft.

  23. Install the J 41240 to the water pump pulley and tighten the cooling fan hub nut.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the hub nut to 56 N.m (41 lb ft).

  24. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE in Engine Electrical.
