Removal & Installation: Accumulator: Installation

CAUTION: Do not mix refrigerant oils. Use of incorrect refrigerant oil will cause compressor failure. The CVC compressor uses a low viscosity refrigerant oil, GM P/N 10953486 (Canadian P/N 88900060).
  1. Add the required amount of new refrigerant oil to a new accumulator. See SPECIFICATIONS . Install the insulator and the bracket to the accumulator.
  2. Install the accumulator bracket and bolt to the vehicle. See Fig 1. Tighten the accumulator bracket bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install a new seal washer. Install the compressor hose assembly to the accumulator.
  3. Install the compressor hose assembly nut to the accumulator. Tighten the nut to specification. Install a new seal washer. Install the evaporator hose to the accumulator. Install the evaporator hose nut to the accumulator. Tighten the nut to specification.
  4. Install the right front fender liner. Lower the vehicle. Recharge the refrigerant system. See RECOVERY, EVACUATION & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING.
