Quick Connect Fittings (Plastic Collar): Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 GMC Sierra, 2003 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, and 2003 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING: In order to reduce the risk of fire and personal injury, before connecting fuel pipe fittings, always apply a few drops of clean engine oil to the male pipe ends. This will ensure proper reconnection and prevent a possible fuel leak. During normal operation, the "O" rings located in the female connector will swell and may prevent proper reconnection if not lubricated.

Apply a few drops of clean engine oil to the male fuel pipe end. Push both sides of the quick-connect fitting together in order to cause the retaining tabs to snap into place. Once installed, pull on both sides of the quick-connect fitting to ensure the connection is secure. Install the fuel filler cap. Connect the negative battery cables. Tighten battery cable bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Prime fuel system, if necessary. See FUEL SYSTEM PRIMING .
