WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 GMC Sierra, 2003 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, and 2003 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: When the fuel injector pressure lines are removed, debris may fall into the fuel injector inlet fitting. Remove any debris from the inlet fitting of the fuel injector.

Remove the lower valve rocker arm cover. See VALVE ROCKER ARM COVERS under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in 6.6L V8 DIESEL ENGINES article. Remove the return line from injectors. Remove the retaining bolt from the injector bracket. Install the Fuel Injector Puller (J 44639) on the injector retainer bracket. Confirm which side of the banjo washers have the largest hole. Install a wrench on the J 44639 and pry away from the fuel injector. Remove the faulty injector(s). See Figure. Remove the copper compression washer from injection hole if the washer did not remove with the injector.
