Models Without Sunroof

  1. Perform SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. Go to next step.
  2. NOTE: This step tests for auxiliary blower motor operation in any speed setting.
  3. Turn ignition on. Operate both the front and rear auxiliary blower motor switches in each speed position. Does the auxiliary blower motor operate in each speed position from both the front and rear blower motor switches? If so, check for intermittent and poor connections. If not, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect the auxiliary blower motor. Turn ignition on. Set the front auxiliary blower motor switch to operate at minimum speed. Connect a test light between the auxiliary blower motor supply circuit and ground. Does the test light illuminate? If so, go to next step. If not, go to step  6.
  5. Connect a test light between the auxiliary blower motor supply circuit and the auxiliary blower motor ground circuit. Does the test light illuminate? If so, go to step  12. If not, go to next step.
  6. Check the auxiliary blower motor resistor assembly ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Did you find and correct the condition? If so, go to step  21. If not, go to step  13.
  7. Turn ignition off. Disconnect the auxiliary blower motor resistor assembly connectors. Turn ignition on. Probe the auxiliary blower motor resistor assembly ignition 3 voltage circuit with a test light that is connected to ground. Does the test light illuminate? If so, go to next step. If not, go to step  15.
  8. Probe the auxiliary blower motor resistor assembly battery positive voltage circuit with a test light that is connected to ground. Does the test light illuminate? If so, go to next step. If not, go to step  16.
  9. NOTE: This step determines if the malfunction is in the control side of the system.
  10. Set the front auxiliary blower motor switch to operate at minimum speed. Probe the auxiliary blower motor low speed control circuit with a test light that is connected to battery positive voltage. Does the test light illuminate? If so, go to step  13. If not, go to next step.
  11. Turn ignition off. Disconnect the front auxiliary HVAC control assembly. Probe the front auxiliary HVAC control assembly ground circuit with a test light that is connected to battery positive voltage. Does the test light illuminate? If so, go to step  14. If not, go to next step.
  12. NOTE: Check both the rear auxiliary HVAC control assembly chassis ground circuit and the ground circuit between the front and rear HVAC control assemblies.
  13. Check the auxiliary HVAC control assembly ground circuits for an open or high resistance. Did you find and correct the condition? If so, go to step  21. If not, go to next step.
  14. Inspect rear auxiliary HVAC control assembly harness connector for poor connections. Did you find and correct the condition? If so, go to step  21. If not, go to step  17.
  15. Inspect auxiliary blower motor harness connector for poor connections. Did you find and correct the condition? If so, go to step  21. If not, go to step  19.
  16. Inspect auxiliary blower motor resistor assembly harness connectors for poor connections. Did you find and correct the condition? If so, go to step  21. If not, go to step  20.
  17. Inspect front auxiliary HVAC control assembly harness connector for poor connections. Did you find and correct the condition? If so, go to step  21. If not, go to step  18.
  18. Repair the ignition 3 voltage circuit of the auxiliary blower motor resistor assembly. After repairs are complete, go to step  21.
  19. Repair the battery positive voltage circuit of the auxiliary blower motor resistor assembly. After repairs are complete, go to step  21.
  20. Replace rear auxiliary HVAC control assembly. See HVAC CONTROL ASSEMBLY (REAR AUXILIARY)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are complete, go to step  21.
  21. Replace front auxiliary HVAC control assembly. See HVAC CONTROL ASSEMBLY (FRONT AUXILIARY)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are complete, go to step  21.
  22. Replace auxiliary blower motor. See BLOWER MOTOR (AUXILIARY)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are complete, go to step  21.
  23. Replace auxiliary blower motor resistor assembly. See BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR (AUXILIARY)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are complete, go to next step.
  24. Operate the system in order to verify the repair. Did you correct the condition? If so, system is okay. If not, go to step  2.
