Removal (All Models)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2002 GMC Yukon XL, 2002 GMC Yukon, 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2002 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Recover the refrigerant. See RECOVERY, EVACUATION & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING. Remove the evaporator tube nut from the evaporator. Disconnect the evaporator tube from the evaporator. See Figure.
  2. Remove the evaporator tube nut from the auxiliary A/C tube, if equipped. Disconnect the evaporator tube from the auxiliary A/C tube, if equipped. Remove the right park/turn signal light. Remove the grille from the vehicle.
  3. Remove the evaporator tube nut from the condenser. Disconnect the evaporator tube from the condenser. See Figure. Remove the evaporator tube from the vehicle. Discard all of the used sealing washers. Cap all of the open connections.
