Steering Gear: Removal

  1. Raise vehicle on hoist, and remove wheels and tires. Remove the stabilizer shaft links from the control arms.
  2. Separate tie rod ends from struts using Separator (J-24319-01). See Figure . Remove intermediate shaft lower pinch bolt from steering gear.
  3. Support rear of chassis support frame, and remove the stabilizer shaft.
  4. Remove power steering hoses. Remove steering gear bolts from frame. Remove steering gear through driver side wheel opening.
