Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor: Installation

  1. Whenever ECT sensor is removed, coat threads with Sealer (12346004) before reinstallation. Install ECT sensor into engine and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. On 8.1L models, install the ECT sensor electrical connector to the oil fill tube bracket. Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector. On 4.3L, 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L models, reconnect harness connector to ECT sensor.
  3. On all models, reconnect negative battery cable. Tighten the negative battery cable bolt. to specification. Fill and bleed cooling system. See COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING  under COOLING SYSTEM.
