Ignition Coil(S): Installation

- Install the brackets to either side of the ignition coil. Install the ignition coil bolts/nuts. Tighten the bolts/nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Place the ignition coil and bracket into position. Install the ignition coil bracket studs. Tighten the studs to specification. Place the ignition coil and bracket into position. Install the ignition coil bracket studs Tighten the studs to specification.
- Install the accelerator cable bracket. Install the accelerator cable bracket nuts and stud. Tighten the nuts/stud to specification.
- Position the bracket and cables. Install the accelerator control cable bracket with cables attached, to the throttle body. Install the accelerator control cable bracket nuts. Tighten the nuts to specification.
- Install the accelerator cable to the engine bracket. Install the cruise control cable to the engine bracket. Install the cruise control cable to the throttle lever. Install the accelerator cable slug to the throttle lever.
- Connect the harness connectors to ignition coil. Install the ignition coil wire to the ignition coil and distributor cap. The coil wire nipple must be positioned such that it is between 35 and 60 degrees aft of perpendicular as referenced from the engine centerline on the outboard side of the coil.
- Install the air cleaner resonator outlet duct. See AIR CLEANER RESONATOR OUTLET DUCT under AIR INDUCTION SYSTEMS.
Install ignition coil to bracket with screws supplied with replacement ignition coil. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten ignition coil mounting studs to specification.
- Install ignition coil. Install the ignition coil bolts. Tighten the bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Connect harness connector(s) to appropriate ignition coil(s).
- Inspect the wire for proper installation. Push sideways on the boot(s) in order to inspect the seating. Reinstall any loose boot(s).
