Throttle Body: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 GMC Sierra, 2003 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, and 2003 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Clean gasket surface on intake manifold and throttle body. Install NEW throttle body flange gasket. Install throttle body assembly. Install throttle body-to-intake manifold studs and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. To reset IAC valve pintle position, turn ignition on for 5 seconds. Turn ignition off for 10 seconds. Start engine and check for proper idle operation. Repeat procedure if proper idle operation is not obtained.

CAUTION: Verify that the throttle actuator motor harness connector and the connector seal are properly installed and not damaged.
  1. Clean gasket surface on intake manifold and throttle body. Install NEW throttle body flange gasket. Install throttle body assembly. Install throttle body retaining nuts and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. Install the coolant air bleed hose to the throttle body. Position the coolant air bleed hose clamp at the throttle body. Connect the throttle actuator motor electrical connector.
  3. Install the engine sight shield. See ENGINE SIGHT SHIELD  under MISCELLANEOUS. Install the air cleaner resonator outlet duct. See AIR CLEANER RESONATOR OUTLET DUCT .
  4. Fill and bleed cooling system. See COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING  under COOLING SYSTEM. Check for coolant leaks.
  5. Connect a scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC), under left side of instrument panel. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, ensure vehicle is not in a reduced engine power mode. Operate accelerator pedal while observing throttle angle on scan tool. Accelerator pedal should operate freely, without binding, between closed throttle and Wide Open Throttle (WOT).
  6. Verify that the vehicle meets the following conditions:
    • The vehicle is not in a reduced engine power mode.
    • The ignition is on.
    • The ignition is off.
