Removal (4.8L, 5.3L & 6.0L)

NOTE:
The intake manifold, throttle body, fuel rail, and injectors may be removed as an assembly. If not servicing the individual components, remove the manifold as a complete assembly.
- Remove the throttle body. See THROTTLE BODY . Remove the fuel injectors. See FUEL INJECTORS under FUEL SYSTEMS.
- Disconnect the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor and Knock sensor electrical connectors. See Figure. Remove the knock sensor harness electrical connector from the intake manifold. Set the electrical harness aside.
- If equipped with vacuum assisted brakes, remove the vacuum brake booster hose from the rear of the intake manifold. Remove the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) hose with valve. See Figure. Remove the MAP sensor from the intake manifold.
- Remove the Evaporative Emission Purge (EVAP) solenoid vent tube by removing the EVAP tube end from the solenoid and removing the EVAP tube end from the vapor pipe. Remove the EVAP purge solenoid bolt, solenoid, and isolator from the intake manifold.
- Loosen the intake manifold bolts. Remove the intake manifold. See Figure. Remove the intake manifold gaskets from the intake manifold. Discard the old intake manifold gaskets. If required, clean and inspect the intake manifold.
