Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor: Installation

  1. Tap out sensor mounting hole in the cylinder head to remove any thread sealant residue. Clean sealant residue from the old sensor, if sensor is to be reused. Apply Loctite 242(R) Thread Sealant (21485277) to the ECT sensor threads. Install the ECT sensor.
  2. Tighten the ECT sensor to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Connect ECT sensor harness connector. Push in connector until a click is heard, then pull back to confirm a positive engagement. Refill the engine coolant system. See COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING  under COOLING SYSTEM.

  1. Apply RTV sealant to ECT sensor threads. Install ECT sensor. Tighten ECT sensor to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Connect ECT sensor harness connector. Push connector in until the lock position is felt, then pull back to confirm engagement.
  2. Position battery cooling box on tray so that inlet and outlet ducts are properly aligned. Alignment of inlet and outlet ducts with battery cooling box is critical to ensure proper airflow to battery. Install battery cooling box bolts. Tighten battery cooling box bolts to specification. Over tightening battery cooling bolts will crack or break the plastic.
  3. Install battery cooling box side support bolt. Connect the forward lamp harness to the UHFB, and attach the UHFB into housing. Install UHFB connector retaining bolts. Secure all cables, lines and harnesses into retaining clips. Attach positive battery cable and EPS wire to B+ terminal at UHFB and tighten nut to specification.
  4. Insert battery and install battery hold-down bolt. Tighten battery hold-down bolt to specification. Connect positive battery cable to battery. Connect negative battery cable to battery. Tighten battery terminal bolts to specification. Install UHFB cover. Install battery cooling box cover and tighten screws.
  5. Refill cooling system to proper level. See COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING  under COOLING SYSTEM. Reprogram preset radio stations and reset clock to correct time.
