Crankshaft Position Sensor: Installation

  1. Lubricate CKP sensor "O" ring with clean engine oil. Install CKP sensor in engine block and attachment bolt. Tighten CKP sensor bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  2. Connect CKP sensor harness connector. Push in connector until a click is heard, then pull back to confirm a positive engagement. Install starter into flywheel housing and align bolt holes. Install upper and lower starter assembly to engine block bolts. Tighten starter-to-engine bolts to specification.
  3. Install the two starter solenoid harness connections and attachment nuts. Tighten starter solenoid harness nuts to specification. Lower vehicle. Connect negative battery cable. Tighten battery terminal bolts to specification.
  4. Perform crankshaft position variation learn procedure. See CRANKSHAFT POSITION VARIATION LEARN PROCEDURE  under PROGRAMMING. Reset clock to correct time and preset radio stations.

Ensure "O" ring is on CKP sensor and lubricate the "O" ring with mineral oil based grease. Install CKP sensor attachment bolt. Tighten bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Lower vehicle. Connect CKP sensor harness connector. Push connector in until the lock position is felt, then pull back to confirm engagement.
