Removal (3.0L)

- Disconnect negative battery cable. Loosen clamp at air cleaner and throttle body assembly. Remove attachment bolts from outlet resonator/duct assembly. Remove outlet resonator/duct assembly. See Figure . Release fuel system pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE .
- Disconnect Gauge Bar Set (SA9127E) and Fuel Pressure Adapter Fitting (L44095) after pressure has been released (if using the without scan tool method of releasing fuel pressure). Disconnect fuel transfer line at quick-connect from fuel line using the Blue tool from Fuel Line Disconnect Set (J37088A).
- Lift and support intake manifold. See INTAKE MANIFOLD & SPACER (3.0L) under AIR INDUCTION SYSTEMS. Disconnect electrical connectors at fuel injectors. Remove fuel rail line bracket bolt. Reposition intake manifold onto cylinder head. Remove intake manifold cover bolts and cover. See Figure .
- Remove vacuum chamber bolts and lift chamber. See Figure . Remove vacuum chamber. Disconnect fuel rail bracket bolt at rear of camshaft cover. Support fuel rail lines with open-end wrench while loosening the transfer line fittings. Loosen transfer line fittings.
- Remove fuel rail attachment bolts to manifold. Remove front fuel rail assembly with injector from intake manifold by lifting upward. Remove rear (curved) fuel rail assembly with injectors from intake manifold by lifting upward. See Figure .
- If fuel rail is being replaced, remove all injectors and replace all "O" rings, otherwise each injector can be removed individually. Remove fuel injector(s) retaining clips. Remove fuel injector(s) from fuel rail. Remove and discard all injector "O" ring seals by using a small pick.
