Rear Axle Upper Control Arm: Installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 13 other vehicles, including the 2002 GMC Yukon XL, 2002 GMC Yukon, 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2002 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the upper control arm to the axle bracket. See Figure .
  2. Install the upper control arm retaining bolt and nut to the axle bracket, but DO NOT tighten at this time.
  3. NOTE: DO NOT tighten the nuts unless the suspension is at curb height position.
  4. Install the upper control arm retaining bolt to the frame bracket. See Figure .
  5. Install the upper control arm retaining nut, but DO NOT tighten at this time.
  6. Connect the RTD sensor harness connector to the vehicle harness connector (if equipped).
  7. Lower the vehicle. Tighten the bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
