Leaf Spring: Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Support the rear axle independently in order to relieve the tension on the leaf springs.
  3. Disconnect the Real Time Damping (RTD) sensor harness connector from the vehicle harness connector (if equipped).
  4. Remove the trailer hitch (if equipped).
  5. On left side only, remove the fuel tank.
  6. Remove the U-bolt nuts. See Fig 1 .
  7. Remove the U-bolts.
  8. Remove the spring spacer.
  9. Remove the anchor plate.
  10. Remove the rear shackle-to-frame bracket nut and bolt. See Fig 2 .
  11. Remove the front spring bracket bolt. See Fig 3 .
  12. Remove the leaf spring assembly from the vehicle.
  13. Remove the shackle from the spring.
