Crankshaft Position Sensor: Installation

  1. Ensure CKP sensor mounting surface is clean and free of burrs. Using a NEW CKP sensor "O" ring lubricated with clean engine oil, install CKP sensor into timing cover.
  2. Ensure CKP sensor is fully seated into timing cover before tightening mounting bolt. A poorly seated CKP sensor may perform erratically and may set false DTCs. Install CKP sensor mounting bolt and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. Reconnect CKP sensor harness connector. Install steering linkage shield and tighten mounting bolts to specification (if equipped). Lower vehicle. Perform Crankshaft Position Sensor Variation Learn Procedure. See CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR  under PROGRAMMING.
