Side Mount: Installation

NOTE: Hand start all bolts before tightening.
  1. Install the transaxle mount in the side rail. See Figure . Tighten transaxle mount-to-side rail bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  2. Use the floor jack to raise the powertrain into position.
  3. Align both side mounts with the surfaces flush with the mount brackets. See Figure .
  4. Align all the bolt holes in both side mounts and hand tighten both upper mount bolts. Three per side.
  5. Tighten the mount bolts starting with the center ones. See Figure . Tighten both upper mount bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  6. Raise the vehicle.
  7. Install the rear mount through bolt. See Figure . Hand tighten only.
  8. Install the front mount through bolt. See Figure . Hand tighten only.
  9. Perform the powertrain mount balance procedure. See POWERTRAIN MOUNT BALANCE (TOTAL MOUNT)  .
  10. Remove the floor jack and block of wood.
  11. Install the battery box. See appropriate SERVICING article as follows:
    • For 2002 models, see BATTERY COOLING BOX under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in SERVICING - VUE (AF33-5) article.
