Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor: Removal

Turn ignition off. Raise and support vehicle. Drain the cooling system to below the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. See Figure. Disconnect the ECT sensor electrical connector. Carefully remove the ECT sensor. See Figure.
