Removal (Right Tank)

  1. Release fuel system pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Drain the fuel tanks. See FUEL TANK DRAINING . Raise and support vehicle.
  2. Remove the right rear tire and wheel. Remove the right fuel tank shield mount nut and bolt. Remove the fuel tank shield. On A/T models, remove the right muffler.
  3. On all models, disconnect the fuel sender electrical connector. Mark or identify each fuel pipe in order to aid in installing the pipes in their original positions. See Figure. Disconnect the auxiliary fuel return rear pipe and the auxiliary fuel feed pipe at the right fuel sender.
  4. Cap the fuel pipes in order to prevent possible fuel system contamination. Remove the right rear wheelhouse panel. SeeFigure. Remove the EVAP canister access cover. See Figure. Disconnect the vent hose from the EVAP canister.
  5. Disconnect the fuel pressure sensor electrical connector. Disconnect the fuel tank crossover hose. See Figure. Disconnect the EVAP pipe quick-connect fitting at the right fuel tank EVAP pipe.
  6. Cap the EVAP pipe in order to prevent possible contamination. Remove the fuel tank strap mount bolts. Remove the fuel tank strap. Remove the fuel tank.
