Removal (Quick-Connect Fitting - With Metal Collar)
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Chevrolet Corvette. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING:
Wear safety glasses when using compressed air, as flying dirt particles may cause eye injury.
- Release fuel system pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Slide the dust cover from the quick-connect fitting. Blow any dirt out of the fitting, using compressed air.
- Choose the correct Quick-Connect Separator tool from Tool Set (J-37088-A) for the size of the fitting. Insert the quick-connect separator into the female connector, then push inward to release the locking tabs. See Figure.
- Pull the connection apart. Using a clean shop towel, wipe off the male pipe end. Inspect both ends of the fitting for dirt and burrs. If necessary, remove rust or burrs from the fuel pipes with an emery cloth. Use a radial motion with the fuel pipe end in order to prevent damage to the "O" ring sealing surface. Clean or replace the components and assemblies as required.
