Extension Housing Assembly: Removal

- Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
- Support the transmission with a transmission jack.
- Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
- Remove the drive shaft. See appropriate DRIVE SHAFTS & UNIVERSAL JOINTS article in DRIVELINE/AXLES.
- Remove the transmission mount. See TRANSMISSION MOUNT in REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - BLAZER, JIMMY CANADIAN, SONOMA & S10 PICKUP article.
- Remove the case extension bolts (1).
- Remove the case extension (2). See Fig 1.
- Remove and discard the case extension "O" ring seal (3).
