Transaxle Range Switch: Removal

CAUTION: DO NOT tip battery over 45 degree angle or acid could spill.
NOTE: Record all pre-set radio stations prior to disconnecting battery and reprogram pre-set stations after repair.
  1. Remove battery cover. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect positive battery cable. Loosen battery hold-down screw and remove battery. See Figure .
  2. Remove battery cooling box. See BATTERY COOLING BOX  .
  3. Remove battery tray bracket. Loosen battery tray bracket screws and remove bracket. See Figure .
  4. Apply parking brake and place control shift lever in Neutral position.
    NOTE: The transaxle manual shaft must be in (N) Neutral position prior to re-installing the range switch.
  5. Using Fascia Retainer Remover (J-36346) remove control cable assembly from transaxle range switch lever.
  6. Disconnect harness connectors from transaxle range switch.
  7. Remove transaxle range switch lever nut and lever. See Figure .
  8. Remove transaxle range switch bolts and remove transaxle switch. See Fig 1 .
