Service Intervals

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING: Saturn ATF (P/N 21005966 and 21019223), and DEXRON-III ATF are not compatible with this transaxle. This transaxle uses Saturn DEX-CVT(R) Fluid (P/N 22688912) only.

It is not necessary to check transaxle fluid. A transaxle fluid leak is the only reason to check transaxle fluid level. Transaxle fluid should not be changed under normal operating conditions. Under continuous extreme operating conditions (trailer towing, heavy city traffic with ambient temperature more than 90°F (32°C) or delivery service), replace fluid and filter every 50,000 miles.
