Release Bearing Noisy With Clutch Engaged: Notes

  1. Did you review the clutch symptom operations and perform the necessary inspections? If yes, go to next step. If no, see DIAGNOSTIC STARTING POINT  .
  2. Remove the transmission. See TRANSMISSION  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Inspect the release bearing. Is the release bearing worn? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step  4 .
  3. Replace the release bearing in the concentric slave cylinder. See CONCENTRIC SLAVE (ACTUATOR) CYLINDER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Is the clutch release bearing still noisy? If yes, go to next step. If no, system is okay.
  4. Inspect the clutch release bearing for binding on the slave cylinder body. Is the release bearing binding on the transmission bearing retainer? If yes, go to next step. If no, system is okay.
  5. Inspect for a weak linkage return spring. Is the return spring weak? If yes, go to next step. If no, system is okay.
  6. Replace the return spring. Did you find and repair the condition? If yes, go to next step. If no, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  .
  7. Install the transmission. See TRANSMISSION  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
