Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove air cleaner and duct assembly. Discharge A/C system, using approved refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment. See RECOVERY, EVACUATION & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING. Loosen the accumulator hose nut from the accumulator. Disconnect the accumulator hose from the accumulator.
  2. Remove the A/C compressor hose block fitting nut from the accumulator. Disconnect the A/C compressor hose from the accumulator. Remove the accumulator bracket retaining bolt. See Fig 1. Remove the accumulator bracket bolt clamp. Remove the accumulator from the mounting bracket.
  3. NOTE: If a NEW accumulator is used, add 2 ounces of NEW PAG oil.
  4. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Evacuate and recharge the system. See RECOVERY, EVACUATION & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING.
