Test A: Automatic Door Locks Inoperative

- If door system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If door system diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform DOOR SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. After performing door system diagnostic system check, go to next step.
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to RUN position, engine off. Using scan tool, read current personalization setting for automatic door lock mode. If scan tool indicates automatic door locks ENABLED, go to next step. If scan tool does not indicate automatic door locks ENABLED, see AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK MODES under PROGRAMMING.
- Verify fault is present. If system does not operate correctly, go to next step. If system operates correctly, problem is intermittent. See DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS .
- Verify that power door locks operate correctly. If power door locks operate correctly, go to next step. If power door locks do not operate correctly, repair power door lock system by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX table.
- Using scan tool, observe DOOR AJAR SWITCHES and DOOR OPEN SWITCH parameters in BCM data list. Close all doors. If scan tool does not indicate CLOSED for both parameters, go to next step. If scan tool indicates CLOSED for both parameters, go to step 8 .
- Disconnect appropriate door lock cylinder switch harness connector. It may be necessary to remove door trim panel for access to driver door lock cylinder switch harness connector. See DOOR TRIM PANEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using scan tool, observe appropriate DOOR AJAR SWITCH or DRIVER DOOR OPEN SWITCH parameter in BCM data list. If scan tool does not indicate CLOSED for appropriate parameter, go to next step. If scan tool indicates CLOSED for appropriate parameter, go to step 9 .
- Check for short to ground in Dark Blue/White wire between appropriate door lock cylinder switch harness connector and appropriate instrument panel fuse block. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 12 . If no problem is found, go to next step.
- Check for poor connections at BCM connectors. Repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 12 . If no problem is found, go to step 10 .
- Check for poor connections at appropriate door lock cylinder switch harness connector. Repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 12 . If no problem is found, go to step 11 .
- Replace and program BCM. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article. After repair, go to step 12 .
- Replace appropriate door lock cylinder switch. See DOOR LOCK CYLINDER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to next step.
- Operate system in order to verify repair. If system does not operate correctly, go to step 2 . If system operates correctly, system is okay.
