Diagnostic Procedure

  1. If body rear end system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If body rear end system diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform BODY REAR END SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. After performing body rear end system diagnostic system check, go to next step.
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to RUN position, engine off. Using scan tool, read DTCs. If DTC B3895 or B3896 is also set, perform DTC B3895: DECK LID AJAR SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT LOW  or DTC B3896: DECK LID AJAR SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN OR HIGH  test. If DTC B3895 or B3896 is not also set, go to next step.
  3. Replace rear compartment occupant sensor. See REAR COMPARTMENT OCCUPANT SENSOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to next step.
  4. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Operate vehicle within conditions for running DTC as specified in CODE ENABLE CRITERIA  . If DTC resets, go to step  2 . If DTC does not reset, system is okay.
