Diagnostic Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, 2002 Chevrolet Impala, 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, and 2001 Chevrolet Impala. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- If door system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If door system diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform DOOR SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. After performing door system diagnostic system check, go to next step.
- Install scan tool. Turn ignition switch to RUN position, engine off. If DTCs B3127, B3132 and B3137 are set as current DTCs, go to next step. If DTCs B3127, B3132 and B3137 are not set as current DTCs, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
- Observe current DTCs on scan tool while disconnecting each door lock actuator 2-pin harness connector C2, one at a time. It may be necessary to remove door trim panel for access to door lock actuator harness connectors. See DOOR TRIM PANEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If DTCs B3127, B3132 and B3137 remain as current DTCs, go to step 5 . If DTCs B3127, B3132 and B3137 do not remain as current DTCs, go to next step.
- Observe current DTCs on scan tool while reconnecting each door lock actuator harness connector C2, one at a time. If DTCs B3127, B3132 and B3137 reset, go to step 8 . If DTCs B3127, B3132 and B3137 do not reset, go to step 9 .
- Check for short to ground in Gray wires between BCM Gray 24-pin harness connector C2 terminal A7 and each door lock actuator 2-pin harness connector C2 terminal "B". BCM is located under left side of instrument panel, above parking brake. See Figure and Fig 1 . Repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 12 . If no problem is found, go to next step.
- Check for short to ground in Tan wires between BCM Gray 24-pin harness connector C2 terminal A6 and each door lock actuator 2-pin harness connector C2 terminal "A". Repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 12 . If no problem is found, go to next step.
- Check for short to ground in Tan wire between BCM Gray 24-pin harness connector C2 terminal A12 and driver door lock actuator 2-pin harness connector C2 terminal "A". Repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 12 . If no problem is found, go to next step.
- Check for poor connection at appropriate door lock actuator harness connector. Repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 12 . If no problem is found, go to step 10 .
- Check for poor connections at BCM harness connectors. Repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 12 . If no problem is found, go to step 11 .
- Replace appropriate door lock actuator. See DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to step 12 .
- Replace and program BCM. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article. After repair, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Replace DR LK fuse (20-amp) as necessary. Operate vehicle within conditions for running DTC as specified in CODE ENABLE CRITERIA . If DTC resets, go to step 2 . If DTC does not reset, system is okay.
