Test G: Wiper Blades Do Not Park

  1. If wiper/washer system description and operation has been reviewed and preliminary inspection has been performed, go to next step. If wiper/washer system description and operation has not been reviewed and preliminary inspection has not been performed, go to DESCRIPTION & OPERATION  and DIAGNOSTIC STARTING POINT  under TROUBLESHOOTING.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. Move the wiper switch to the LO position. Move the wiper switch to the OFF position. Do the front wipers advance to the park position? If so, condition is intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If not, go to next step.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position. Turn the wiper switch to OFF. Disconnect the wiper/washer switch connector. Do the wipers park? If so, go to step  7 . If not, go to next step.
  4. At the wiper/washer switch connector, measure the voltage of the windshield wiper switch signal 2 circuit (Dark Green wire). Does the voltage measure greater than 1.0 volts? If so, go to next step. If not, go to step  8 .
  5. Reconnect the wiper/washer switch connector. Disconnect the wiper motor connector. Measure the voltage of the windshield wiper switch signal 2 circuit (Dark Green wire). Does the voltage measure greater than 1.0 volts? If so, go to next step. If not, go to step  8 .
  6. Repair short to battery positive voltage in the windshield wiper switch signal 2 circuit (Dark Green wire). After repairs are complete, go to step  9 .
  7. Replace the wiper/washer switch. See WIPER/WASHER SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are complete, go to step  9 .
  8. Replace the wiper motor cover. See WIPER MOTOR COVER (CIRCUIT BOARD)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are complete, go to step  9 .
  9. Operate the system in order to verify the repair. Did you correct the condition? If so, system is okay. If not, go to step  2 .
