Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Oldsmobile Aurora. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the camshaft cover seal as required.

    Important:  Be careful to prevent the exposed section of the camshaft cover seal from being damaged by the edge of the cylinder head casting.

  2. Install the camshaft cover.
    CAUTION: Refer toFASTENER NOTICE .

  3. Install the 9 camshaft cover bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the camshaft cover bolts to 10 N.m (89 in lbs).

  4. Install the spark plug boots onto the coil cassette.

    Ensure that the boots are fully seated against the cassette.

  5. Install the ignition coil cassette. Refer to IGNITION CONTROL MODULE .
  6. Install the secondary AIR control valve bracket. Refer to SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SHUT OFF VALVE .
  7. Connect the cable harness clips to the cable harness at the front of the camshaft cover.
  8. Connect the secondary AIR vent solenoid electrical connector.
  9. Connect the vacuum tubes to the secondary AIR vent solenoid.
  10. Connect the oxygen sensor wire.
  11. Connect the PCV dirty air tube (2) to the orifice tube (1).

  12. Position the intake manifold sight shield (1) to the engine.
  13. Install the 2 intake manifold sight shield nuts (2).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nuts to 3 N.m (27 in lbs).
