Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Grand Am and 2003 Oldsmobile Alero. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: If installing a NEW MAP sensor, use the NEW MAP sensor seal provided with the NEW MAP sensor.
  1. Install the MAP sensor (2) into the intake manifold. See Figure .
  2. Connect the MAP sensor harness connector.
  3. Install the accelerator bracket (2) on the throttle body (1). See Figure . Tighten the accelerator bracket nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  4. Connect the accelerator control cable (3) to the throttle body (4) and accelerator bracket (1). See Figure .
  5. Connect the cruise control cable (2) from the throttle body (3) and the accelerator bracket (1). See Figure .
  6. Install the air cleaner outlet resonator, air cleaner intake duct and vent hose.


  1. Position the MAP sensor to the bracket.
  2. Connect the MAP inlet vacuum hose.
  3. Connect the MAP sensor harness connector.
  4. Install the screws. Tighten the screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
