Heated Oxygen Sensor 2: Installation
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Grand Am and 2003 Oldsmobile Alero. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
A special anti-seize compound is used on the oxygen sensor threads. The compound consists of a liquid graphite and glass beads. The graphite will burn away, but the glass beads will remain, making the sensor easier to remove. New or service sensors will have the compound applied to the threads. If the sensor is removed and is to be reinstalled, the threads must be coated with an anti-seize compound before reinstallation.
- Coat the threads only of the HO2S 2 with anti-seize compound, if necessary.
- Install the HO2S 2. Tighten the HO2S 2 to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Lower vehicle. Connect HO2S harness connector.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Reconnect the HO2S 2 connector, in the engine compartment.
