Removal (HO2S 2)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Sunfire and 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Take care when handling the rear Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S 2). The in-line connector and louvered end must be kept free of grease, dirt or other contaminants. Avoid using cleaning solvents of any type. DO NOT drop or roughly handle the HO2S 2.
CAUTION: HO2S 2 may be difficult to remove when engine temperature is less than 120°F (48°C). Excessive removal force may damage threads in flange.

HO2S 2 is located on flange at rear of catalytic convertor.

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the HO2S 2 harness connector, in the engine compartment.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle.
