Oxygen Sensors: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Sunfire and 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Correct torque of O2 sensor is critical to prevent crushing glass beads in graphite anti-seize compound. Crushing glass beads will cause O2 sensor to seize in exhaust manifold or flange. Whenever O2 sensor is removed, coat threads with anti-seize compound before installation. New O2 sensor already has this compound applied to threads.
  1. Install HO2S 2. See Figure.
  2. Tighten HO2S 2 to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Lower the vehicle.
  4. Reconnect the HO2S 2 harness connector, in the engine compartment.
