Installation (HO2S 1)
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Sunfire and 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
Correct torque of O2 sensor is critical to prevent crushing glass beads in graphite anti-seize compound. Crushing glass beads will cause O2 sensor to seize in exhaust manifold or flange.
NOTE:
New or service sensors will have the compound applied to the threads. If a sensor is removed and is to be reinstalled, the threads must have an anti-seize compound applied before installation.
- Coat the threads of the HO2S with anti-seize compound, if necessary.
- Install the HO2S to exhaust manifold. See Figure. Tighten the oxygen sensor to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Connect the oxygen sensor harness connector.
- Install the exhaust manifold heat shield. See Figure.
- Connect the negative battery cable. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
