Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor: Removal

Numbers in parenthesis correspond to numbered components in referenced illustration.
Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor is located on the intake manifold.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove the air cleaner outlet resonator.
- Disconnect the cruise control cable (2) from the throttle body (3) and accelerator bracket (1). See Fig 1. Remove the accelerator cable bracket.
- Disconnect the accelerator control cable (3) from the throttle body (4) and accelerator bracket (1). See Fig 2.
- Remove the 2 accelerator bracket nuts (3). See Fig 3.
- Remove the accelerator bracket (2) from the throttle body (1). See Fig 3.
- Disconnect the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor harness connector.
- Remove the MAP sensor (2) from the intake manifold. See Fig 4.
- Check the seal for damage. If the MAP sensor seal is damaged, the MAP sensor must be replaced.
